How One Simple Little Automation My Teenage Son Built, Plus Five Minutes a Week, Has Generated Thousands of Dollars

I'm the worst at consistency. So my son built one tiny email automation in ten minutes, and a year later it has quietly put thousands of dollars in my pocket.

This sounds overblown, and my intention is not to clickbait you. But I want to show you how a simple system that essentially forces consistency put thousands of dollars in my pocket this year.

First off, I’m the WORST at consistency. I never, and I mean ever, wake up and think, “What should I be consistent about today?”

Obviously, staying in touch with your database is critical, and email is a no-brainer. And honestly, if you’re not emailing at least once a week, why bother? Yet whenever I looked at my email campaigns, I was shocked at how much time had passed since I sent my last one.

So one day I told my high school son, “Hey, can you set up a simple automation in RenegadeCRM that sends an email out to everyone twice a week?”

Ten minutes later he calls out to me: “Dad, all finished. Your first email goes out tomorrow, then the next one goes out Saturday. Then it repeats next week, and just keeps going forever. It sends to everyone in your contact list.”

Now here we are, more than twelve months down the road, and guess what? My people get emailed faithfully twice a week. My part? About five minutes a week to drop in the next email.

Are the emails great? Nope, sorry, they haven’t always been great. Sometimes it’s just a quick three-line blurb about something helpful. Sometimes I’ve even forgotten, and the same email I sent last week goes out again. But you know what? Not one person has complained, or even mentioned it.

Have they been getting better? You bet! Now I’ve got ways to make them cleaner, look better, and sound better.

The consistency is what paid

But here’s the real takeaway from all of this: the consistency (NOT necessarily the content) has literally put thousands of dollars in my pocket.

I started hearing back from people. I started getting more calls. I started hearing people say, “I’ve been getting your emails…” Funny thing, too: I’d say 90% of the time, the topic I emailed about was NOT the subject they asked about. The email didn’t have to be about their problem. It just had to remind them I exist.

For you, I’ve put this simple little email automation in RenegadeCRM. Turn that puppy on, set your own delivery times and content, and let ‘er rip!

And now I’ve started thinking, “What else can I automate that would force my hand?”
